Since 2010, Agnes Montangero has been leading the water & infrastructure sector of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, a Swiss NGO implementing 40 water projects in 20 countries. An environmental engineer, Ms. Montangero has been working in the water and sanitation sector for 15 years in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Prior to working for HELVETAS, Ms. Montangero conducted research at the Department of Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries (SANDEC) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), an internationally renowned aquatic research institute. She wrote her PhD thesis on fecal sludge management and environmental sanitation planning. Additionally, Ms. Montangero worked for Skat, an independent Swiss organization working in development and humanitarian aid, as a water and environmental sanitation specialist. In the Skat team, she provided strategic program support and developing tools and manuals such as a sustainability assessment tool in addition to overseeing external evaluations. Ms. Montangero is fluent in French, English, and German.
